 Information for patients, service users and carers

What is it?

This course is led by physiotherapists and cognitive behavioural therapists to help people better understand and manage their persistent back pain.

Course Content:

To fully benefit from this course, you will need to attend all 6 of the group sessions as well as a pre and post course follow up outlined as follows:

1 to 1 initial assessment with a member of the CPPP team: To find out some more information about you and your pain and create goals for the course.

 Group session 1: Understanding pain and the inactivity cycle.

 Group session 2: Pacing.

 Group session 3: Challenging unhelpful thoughts.

Group session 4: Movement avoidance and relaxation techniques.

 Group session 5: Effects of worrying about pain.

 Group Session 6: Flare up management.

 Post course follow up 1 to 1: To find out how you found the course and whether it has helped you and your pain.

Times and locations:

QA Hospital - 10:00 till 11:30 AM Tuesday.

Virtual - Zoom - 10:00 till 11:30 AM Thursday.

 

Who would benefit from this course?

People who are:

·       Experiencing with a long history of back pain with or without leg pain.

·       Avoiding activity due to their pain.

·       Experiencing unhelpful thoughts about their pain, that could mean they feel limited by their pain.
